NCR Planning Board has approved the inclusion of Jind & Karnal districts of Haryana in NCR (National Capital Region) at its 34th meeting. There are 168 cities & towns spread over four states that come under the jurisdiction of NCR Planning Board.
Key Points
- The board is satisfied with the reasonable success it has achieved in bringing down the population growth rate of Delhi from 47% in 1991-2001 period to 21.2% during the last decade 2001-11.
- The concerned states can now avail cheaper loans for the development of physical and social infrastructure in the region with decreased rate of interest at 7.25% from 8.25% earlier.
- Regional Plan-2021 under the provisions of the NCRPB Act, 1985 has been finalized.
- The Draft Sub-Regional Plan-2021 for U.P. Sub-Region has been approved.
- The board will consider the Draft Sub-Regional Plan-2021 for Haryana and Rajasthan sub-regions once they are complete.
- Delhi Master Plan for 2021 is considered as Sub-Regional Plan for Delhi.
NCRTC
- The centre has given its nod to establishment of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to improve the region's connectivity.
- The proposed NCRTC is supposed to design, construct, operate and maintain the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) projects.
