Indian women crowned 'Kabaddi World Cup 2013' champion

India has clinched the women's Kabaddi World Cup 2013 defeating debutant New Zealand 49-21 in the final held at Ludhiana, Punjab. 
Awards:
  • India, with this victory, won the world cup for 3rd successive time taking home the first-place prize of Rs one crore.
  • The prize for best stopper went to Anu Rani while Ram Bateri was adjudged the best raider.
  • Both were duly rewarded with a Maruti Alto car each along with the cash prizes.
More:
  • Denmark took the third place by pipping Pakistan 34-33 in a thrilling see-saw encounter.
  • There were 8 national team participating in it: India, Denmark, England, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan and United States.
Men's edition:
  • India and Pakistan are to clash in the 4th men's Kabaddi World Cup final this year.
  • So far India has remained the unbeaten champion of Kabaddi World Cup winning all its editions.
  • United States bagged the third place by outplaying England 62-27 in a one-sided affair.
  • The last three World Cup in 2010, 2011 and 2013 were also held at Ludhiana where the Indian men triumphed by beating Pakistan twice and Canada once.
  • The men's tournament was supposed to have 12 teams but Iran chose not to participate leaving only 11 participating nations in the fray.
  • They were India, United States, Spain, Kenya, Argentina, Pakistan, England, Canada, Sierra Leone, Denmark and Scotland.
