Jacques Kallis, one of the greatest all-rounder of all time, decides to retire from Test cricket after the second match against India at Durban; Though he will remain available for one-day internationals.  
     I.            He is the 4th highest runscorer in tests (so far) after Tendulkar, Ponting and Dravid.
   II.            He also has taken 292 test wickets in 165 matches spread over a career of 18-year.
 III.            He is the second best century (44) maker in tests after Tendulkar 51.

Muslim Brotherhood declared as a terrorist organization by Egypt's interim government blaming it for a bombing this week that killed 16 people in the country.

1.                Indian-Americans, Karunesh Ganguly and Hardeep Singh, to be conferred on the prestigious 'Presidential Award' by Barack Obama.  
 .          They are among 102 scientists to be given this apex national award for 'scientists and engineers' in US.
I.          The award was instituted in 1996 by the then President Bill Clinton.

Government to initiate 'Direct Transfer of Cash subsidy on PDS Kerosene'. The scheme known as DTCK (Direct Transfer of Cash subsidy on 'Public Distribution System Kerosene) would be along the lines of DBTL (direct benefit transfer of subsidy on LPG).

Ethnic fighting intensifies in South Sudanmany killedthousands displaced. International efforts underway to seek a peaceful solution.    
     I.            Violence erupted 12 days ago between forces loyal to President Salva Kiir (Dinka ethnic) and those backing his ex-deputy Riek Machar (Nuer ethnic).
   II.            More than 50,000 civilians have sought refuge at UN compounds in South Sudan.

Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) to have constitutional status. It will replace the earlier collegium system which dealt with the appointment and transfer of judges to the higher judiciary.  
III.          The JAC Bill seeks to set up a six-member body under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of India.

Deepika Kumari clinches her 6th consecutive individual title at the 34th National Archery Championships held at Jamshedpur, while Atanu Das claims the men's individual title.  
IV.          Jharkhand emerges overall winners with 10 gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

J.N.Choudhury appointed as the Director General of National Security Guard (NSG) while Arvind Ranjan becomes the Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Each has replaced the other in the alloted capacity.

Acclaimed actor 'Farooq Sheikh' dies of cardiac arrest aged 65.   
     I.            He had won the 2010 'National Film Award' for best supporting actor in the film 'Lahore'.
II.          'Shatranj Ke Khiladi', 'Chashme Buddoor', 'Kissi Se Na Kehna' and 'Noorie' are few of his notable films.

India is expected to become the third largest economy in the world after China and United States in 2028 as per Cebr's 'World Economic League table report for 2013'.   
III.          The London-based economic consultancy (Centre for Economics and Business Research) presently ranks India as the 11th largest economy globally. 
IV.          The report annually calculates the 30 largest economies in the world and predict countries that will feature in the 'top thirty' in the near future.

Government to set up 'National Cancer Institute' in Haryana at the Jhajjar campus of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).  
V.          It will operate along the lines of globally renowned Cancer Institutes of US (National Cancer Institute) and Germany (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum).  
VI.          11 lakh new cases of cancer are diagnosed with a mortality rate of 5.5 lakh every year in India making it one of the gravest public health concerns.

Athletics Federation of India bans six states namely DelhiHaryanaRajasthanBihar ,Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh for a year on the charge of fielding overaged athletes.   
VII.          44 overaged athletes across these six states have also been suspended for a year.
VIII.          Moreover, 14 Athletes were suspended on the charge of doping for two years.
