Michelle Bachelet elected as the next President of Chile



Michelle Bachelet has been elected as the next President of Chile after storming to victory in the presidential election run-off beating 'Evelyn Matthei' of the ruling-alliance. She secured over 62% votes as compared to her opponent's 38%.

  • She will succeed the incumbent President Sebastian Pinera in March 2014 for a four-year term.
  • She, the first female president of Chile from 2006 to 2010, was the candidate of the Socialist Party.
