The Second Meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) to consider the
issues regarding the bifurcation of the State of Andhra Pradesh and
formation of the new State of Telangana was held here today under the
Chairmanship of Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Home Minister. The
following Ministers attended the meeting:
1) Shri P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister
2) Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare
3) Shri Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas
4) Shri Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister of Rural Development
5) Shri V. Narayanasamy, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel & PMO.
Ministries/Departments of the Government of India and the Planning Commission had furnished their Status Notes on the issues given in the terms of reference of the GoM. A large number of e-mails had also been received on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the bifurcation of the State of Andhra Pradesh relating to the terms of reference. The Group of Ministers decided that more time should be given to enable the political parties, public representatives and individuals to send their suggestions pertaining to the specific terms of reference of the Group of Ministers. These may be sent on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs (mha.nic.in/gom.htm) or could be sent by post to the following address:

The suggestions should reach the Ministry of Home Affairs by 5th November, 2013.
The Group of Ministers also considered the background notes which had been prepared by the Home Ministry regarding the various issues pertaining to the bifurcation.
The Group of Ministers deliberated upon the suggestions received by e-mail. They directed that the suggestions made in the emails may be taken into account by the ministries concerned while updating there status reports. The ministries should makes specific recommendations based on the terms of reference for consideration of the GoM.
The next meeting of the Group of Ministers will be held on 7th November, 2013.
