Police Commemoration Day was observed today at the Police Memorial,
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The Union Home Minister, Shri Sushilkumar
Shinde participated on the solemn occasion of paying tribute to martyred
Police personnel along with Minister of Information and Broadcasting,
Shri Manish Tewari, Minister for State (Home) Sh.R.P.N.Singh, Minister
for State (Finance), Shri Namo Narain Meena, Cabinet Secretary, Home
Secretary, Secretary Security (PMO), Director of Intelligence Bureau
& Chiefs of various Police and Para-Military forces including
Commissioner of Police, Delhi.
The Martyrs Book was brought to the memorial in slow march to the tune “VATAN KI RAH PAR VATAN KE NAU JAWAN SHAHEED HO” and placed on the memorial. DIB read out the names of 579 Martyrs, who made the supreme sacrifice (between 1/9/2012 to 31/8/2013). Wreaths were laid by the dignitaries with the band playing the tune “HATHROI”.
The guard presented arms in “SALAMI SASTHRA” and trumpeters sounds the last post and flag of all forces was slowly brought to half mast. Later two minutes silence was observed with the band played “ABIDE WITH ME”. The last moment of “SALAMI SASTHRA”, the flags of forces were raised to full mast and the programme ended with the band playing the tune “AYE MERE VATAN KE LOGO”.
