- Vice President of Afghanistan Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim died on 9th March 2014 due to natural causes.
- He had been a top commander in the Northern Alliance, a group of anti-Taliban militia leaders, after the 1992-96 civil war.
Note :
- Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim was appointed defence minister in 2002. He also served as a vice president from 2002-2004.
- Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim returned as senior vice-president in the 2009 election.
