IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, And Former Civil Aviation Secretary
Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi was appointed as an Election Commissioner
on 7 August 2012 and took up his new assignment.
He fills the
vacancy which was created in the three-member Election Commission after
the retirement of former Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi and
the elevation of V S Sampath as head of poll body. H S Brahma is
the other Election Commissioner.
Syed Nasim Ahmed
Zaidi has served various key
positions including Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)
and Permanent Representative of India to the Council of International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO) from 2005-08. He also served as Chairman in
Airport Authority of India.
