On 10 Aug 2012, the doyer of contemporary Gujarati
poet, essayist, litterateur and editor Suresh dalal
died after a brief illness at a mumbai hospital. He was 79. He was born on 11th
October 1932 in Thane. He did his B.A. in Gujarati in 1953, M.A. in 1955 and
Ph.D. in 1969. Suresh Parsho Hmadas Dalal had won Sahitya Akademy Award for
his work ‘Akahnd Zaar Vage’ in 2005. He served as vice chancellor
of the M S University of Baroda and a “National Lecturer” for the
UGC. He edited around 25 books mainly collections of essays and
poetry.
