Agri & Kitchen Waste based Bio-Gas Plant

Agri & Kitchen Waste based Bio-Gas Plant
Nisarg-Runa technology of solid waste management with "Zero garbage, Zero effluent"
Nisarg-Runa technology of solid waste management offers a "Zero garbage, Zero effluent" method for waste management. This technology has been developed by "Nuclear Agriculture & Biotechnology Division" of BARC. Alps Environmental Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is authorized system provider for this technology.
Nisarg-Runa plant can process almost any biodegradable waste including kitchen waste, paper, grass, night soil, dry leaves etc. There is a good potential for energy generation in this biphasic biomethanation plant. A substantial portion of our food waste is biodegradable (38-40%) which is used to generate methane. This methane gas can be used as fuel for heating or for generating electricity. The lignocellulosic and hemicellulosic portion of vegetable waste and paper yield manure. Manure obtained from such waste has high nitrogen content. This manure acts as an excellent soil conditioner. The carbon to nitrogen ratio of this manure is 12:1 (similar to fertile land). It has phosphorous, potassium, iron and magnesium in small quantities. It is weed free and does not have any offensive smell.
Advantages :
The Nisarg-Runa plant would serve many purposes such as: -
1.     Environment friendly disposal of waste, which is need of hour considering mass pollution everywhere.
2.     Generation of fairly good amount of fuel gas, which will definitely support the dwindling energy resources.
3.     Generation of high quality manure, which would be weed less and an excellent soil conditioner. This is very important for replenishing fast decreasing resources of productive soils. It must be noted that need for replenishing the soil with high quality organic manure has been identified in tenth five-year plan.
4.     The gas generated in this plant can also be used as a source of natural gas. The composition of biogas is - Methane (CH4): 70-75% - Carbon Dioxide (CO2): 10-15% - Water vapours: 5-10%.
Applications
Wastes that can be processed by Nisarg-Runa are biodegradable kitchen wastes, paper wastes, green grass, leaf-litter, animal remains in abattoirs, hospital waste, green plant waste, cow-dung (gobar), crop residues, sugarcane, baggase and water hyacinth.
The Nisarg-Runa plants are useful for Municipal Corporations, Hospitals, Hotels, Housing Societies, Govt. Establishments, Abattoirs, and Farmers.
